PUBLICATIONS:

    • Presenter & Consultant-at-Large for the Inland Empire Health Plan, Developmental Disabilities Program for Seniors & Adults. San Bernardino County. September 2013-Present.

    • Current trends & issues for people with various level of developmental disabilities in the Inland Empire. Pacific-Rim Conference, 2008; Honolulu, HI. March 13, 2008
Authors: MADEILAINE PALMA, Barbara Nguyen, Renee Gaeta.
The challenges for children with special needs have been overlooked by educators, primary health care practitioners when making appropriate referrals for early interventions. Current trends have been inadequately
monitored from family members, school districts & acute care settings, when these children come into the “system of care.” Adults with various level of developmental disabilities are discriminated when applying for
employment, or when gainfully employed – wages are less than the minimum wage & unsafe working standards. As a community, we have a responsibility to infuse “fresh blood” to revive employment agencies, health care clinics, school districts by accommodating the needs of children & adults with developmental disabilities.
